For some reason I want to boycott the finals. I am already sick of all this hype for these teams.

I am a huge NBA fan too. I think the playoffs are too long and David Stern is too smug and ESPN is, well ESPN.

It is weird because I type this as I am watching the dream Stanley Cup final which has been hyped but I am really enjoying it and I am not a hockey fan at all.

I also never turn away from a Red Sox - Yankees game. So why am I not interested at all in this "dream" finals? It isn't like I am a fan of any particular other NBA team.

Someone help me....

Brett

After years and years of boring Spurs and Pistons teams in the Finals, I like that ESPN's hyping the Finals.

I assume you're one of those 'purists' who loves games where the first to 78 wins.

Nope, I am 25 years old.

Actually Brett is lying :)

He really is a hockey fan and the huge national profile of the NBA finals (compared to the Stanley Cup) has given him and many like him a whopping case of sour grapes. You know I am right Brett! LOL!!!

Now watch the NBA finals completely remove the little interest the SCF generated for the NHL these past few days. Game 1 of the Lakers/Celtics is highly anticipated in almost all corners of the country - can we say numbers of the order of 8-12 million tuning in? I think so.

Hey boycott all you want Brett - the crowd watching will be much too big to miss you.

This is one case where the NBA does NOT care.

Red Sox/Yankee games are unwatchable. They take 5 hours to play. As for the NBA Finals I'll watch some of it but with the games starting at 9:30 I'm not sure what the point of watching the first quarter/half and going to bed is....everyone knows the last 5 minutes is the whole game.

Also, Game 5 of the SCF drew 6 million viewers in the USA and 4 million in Canada. That's 10 million...hopefully the NBA can beat that or it will be arguably only 4th most popular sport in North America.

The only complaint I have is that those games should start at 8 pm, not 9 pm.

Spin all you want hocketites - your sport is at the bottom of the very pile and will stay there too. Now the real national sports spectacle is about to begin - the NBA finals and I know you will be tuning in (hey Brett you heard that?)

Wow...yeah I think I said I was not a hockey fan. Thanks
