3.8
The 3.8 rating for last Sunday's Federer/Roddick Wimbledon men's final is a 9% increase over a 3.5 for last year's Nadal/Federer tilt, and marks the highest rating for the men's final at Wimbledon since 2000.

Serena Williams' 11th Grand Slam victory drew a 2.3 rating on NBC last Saturday, down 8% from a 2.5 for the same matchup in '08, and the third-lowest rating for the women's final at Wimbledon since at least '97. Additionally, the 2.3 is the lowest rating ever for an all-Williams Grand Slam final on broadcast.

The 3.1 U.S. rating for last Saturday's Coke Zero 400 marks an 18% drop from last year's 3.8, and is the lowest rating for the race since at least '98.

This week's predictions:

Sport Game/Event Date/Time Net
Prediction
NASCAR LifeLock.com 400 8 PM Saturday TNT
3.3
So far, TNT has aired the only two NASCAR races of the season that did not have a decline in ratings. Coming off of a big drop for the Coke Zero 400, can the net end its NASCAR coverage on a positive note? Last year's comparable race drew a 3.2.
MLB Yankees/Angels or other regional action 4 PM Saturday FOX
2.4
MLB telecasts on FOX have failed to draw even a 2.0 rating in 7 of the past 8 weeks. Look for Saturday's battle of the #1 and #2 markets to not only end that streak, but send FOX into the All-Star break with some much needed ratings momentum. Last year's comparable regional coverage drew a 1.9.
IRL Honda Indy Toronto 1 PM Sunday ABC
0.8
ABC concludes its IRL coverage on Sunday with its ratings down 11%. Since the Indy 500, which drew a 4.0, ABC has drawn ratings of 0.7, 0.8 and 0.9 for IRL coverage. Expect another sub-1.0 rating on Sunday.

Hot dog!

Competitive eating topped Major League Baseball and Wimbledon in the ratings last week.

The Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest drew a 0.9 U.S. rating (1.0 cable) and 1.3 million viewers on ESPN July 4. The contest topped the Wimbledon men's and women's semifinals (0.7 on ESPN2 Thursday and Friday, respectively), two MLB telecasts on ESPN (0.7 each), and tied an IRL race on ABC (0.9).

Additionally, the contest outdrew two AVP Crocs Tour telecasts on NBC (0.6 each) and the MotoGP U.S. Grand Prix on FOX (0.5).

Going back further, the 0.9 for the Hot Dog Eating Contest surpasses the rating for last year's MLS Cup (0.6).

Into the Woods.

Wherever Tiger Woods goes, big ratings follow.

The final round of the AT&T National, featuring Woods' third PGA Tour victory of the season, drew a 4.2/10 final rating on CBS Sunday -- up 180% from a 1.5/4 last year, and the highest rating ever for final round coverage of the three-year-old tournament.

The 4.2 rating made the final round of the AT&T National the highest rated sporting event of the weekend, topping the Federer/Roddick men's final (3.8) and NASCAR's Coke Zero 400 (3.1).

Woods' three victories this season have averaged a 3.9 rating, 39% higher than the 2.8 season average*. Additionally, Woods' victories have averaged a whopping 102% increase in ratings over the comparable telecasts last year.

* Final round coverage only.
